History of the Firm
In November 1985 Douglas Redfern MA LLM set up his legal practice in Weymouth, having worked as a Solicitor in Dorset since 1963. He remained the Senior Partner of Douglas Redfern and Co for 19 years until assuming his present role as a Consultant with the firm from November 2004.
John Mackenzie LLB joined the firm in 1992, having practised as a Solicitor since 1971. Since November 2004, he has been the Senior Partner of the firm.
Damian Summerscales BA (Hons) became a Partner with the firm in 2004. He has practised as a Solicitor since 1988.
Since December 1992, the firm's principal office has been situated at 34a St Thomas Street Weymouth, opposite the Post Office.
In May 1995, the firm established a branch office at 15 Easton Street, Portland to serve the Isle of Portland and Wyke Regis community.
Now as Redferns Solicitors, both in Weymouth and at Portland, our professional yet friendly staff pride themselves upon the good quality reputation which they have earned for the firm.
Community Spirit
We recognise the importance of working in a community and the positive spirit to be generated by supporting and participating in local events.
Damian Summerscales is an enthusiastic runner and triathlete who has participated in a number of local events. He has completed six marathons so far, raising money for the Weldmar Hospice Care Trust.
John Mackenzie is an active and industrious member of Portland Rotary Club which is part of Rotary International, giving his time and skills on a voluntary basis, to help local charities and those less fortunate in our community. He is Chairman of the Portland Centre which provides general advice and assistance to the citizens of Portland.
